The Hamilton Cardinals Rep Baseball Association is pleased to announce Allan Ross as our player and coach development director.
In 1959 a young player in Montreal took his first steps onto a baseball field. Allan had started what would become his lifelong passion and love. He pitched his way from 11U to Junior before retiring with a sore arm. Retired from playing but remaining active in the game to this day, he recently joined the Hamilton Cardinals Rep Baseball Association as Director of Player and Coach Development.
Along the way, in 1971, he became co-owner of the Candiac Cubs Junior team in the QMJBL league in Quebec.
From 1973 – 1979 he managed with the Lachine Athletics Organization, winning the Quebec Provincial Bantam Championship in 1977 as well as the Midget Championship in 1978.
In 1979 Allan moved to Toronto and resumed coaching with the North York Baseball Association. He then moved to Ajax, coaching from 1986 – 1994, winning the 1989 Ontario Provincial PeeWee Championship.
From 1995 to 1997 he coached the Welland Renegades in the Canadian Division of the Connie Mack League 18U before accepting the position of General Manager of Brian Hanson’s IBL Hamilton Cardinals, where he served during the 1998 and 1999 seasons before moving on to Brantford, serving as their General Manager for the 2000 and 2001 seasons.
From 2002 – 2011 Allan worked as a roving instructor for various organizations in Oakville and Toronto before accepting a position as instructor with the Guelph based Ontario Outlaws from 2013 – 2018.
Prior to accepting his current position as Director of Player and Coach Development, Allan established the IBL Hamilton Cardinals Alumni Association.
In addition to his coaching and instructing career Allan also served as an associate scout for the late Steve Oleschuk with the Pittsburg Pirates 1980 – 2000, the California Angels 2001 – 2009 and the Arizona Diamondbacks 2010 – 2014.
Allan looks forward for the opportunity to provide more services to the players within the organization stating “This is a solid organization of dedicated members, a great training program and supportive parents. They are open and receptive to new ideas. This will be a lot of fun.”
Please join us in welcoming him to our organization as we continue to invest in youth baseball players in the City of Hamilton.
