Major Mosquito T2 are 3Peat Tourney Champions!!!
Submitted By Hamilton Cardinals on Sun 07 28, 19
The Major Mosquito T2 hit the road this past weekend; travelling to Chatham Ontario to battle unfamiliar teams. This tenacious squad once again pulled out the win, officially giving them their THIRD tournament win of the season.
Game 1 for the Cards was a classic pitchers dual against a strong Sarnia Braves team. Hamilton was losing 2-0 going into the bottom of the 6th inning; but in true form, the team never surrendered! They battled back and in the bottom of the 6th they put up 3 runs, taking the lead. Heading into the top of the 7th, the Cards pitching and defence dug deep. A bases loaded play at the plate protected the win, stranding the Braves runners...and the Cards took Game 1 with a close score of 3-2.
The Cardinals went on to win both Game 2 and 3. In game 3 the Cardinals completed their very first 7 5 4 2 double play (LF to 3rd to 2nd to Home), an extremely impressive play for this young age. In Game 4 the Cards squared off with the tough host team...the Chatham Diamonds, winning 7-3.
After being perfect in pool play Hamilton was set to meet the Sarnia Braves once again in the finals. It was a close contest, but in the extreme heat the Cards took the lead in the 3rd and never looked back. After rain, thunder, lightning and even a tornado warning the game was called in the 6th inning and Hamilton was named
tournament Champions, with a final score of 12-6.
The Hamilton Cardinals maintained their defensive dominance allowing only 13 runs over 5 games. The depth of the Cardinals pitchers proved too much for their opponents; and their bats blistered in the heat offensively as well.
This tournament Championship hat-trick wraps up the teams regular season tournament play. In the weeks to come, they will complete their regular COBA game schedule and begin to prepare for OBAs.
The Cards now sit with an impressive season record of 25-6-4 !!!
Congrats to our 3Peat champs, keep grinding boys!
