2. ONE DAY ON FIELD
This will focus on giving UICs the skills to know what to look for in and how to help younger umpires. UICs will be taught what to look for in 5 key plate and 5 key bases areas. The session will be held in Cambridge on March 3 and run from 10-4. There will be both a classroom and gymnasium component. Lunch will be included. There is no cost for local UICs, but pre-registration is required.
Sign up for webinars and/or in person session by completing this form
3. SHARING INFORMATION
A Google Drive (or similar) will be set up that local UICs can access. Copies of materials from local associations will be uploaded to be shared with colleagues from across the province.
4. LOCAL TOURNAMENT UMPIRE SUPERVISORS
The Umpires’ Committee will be piloting this for 2019. At the 13U, 15U and 18U levels, the Baseball Ontario Umpires Committee will assign one Umpire Supervisor, who is a Senior or Master Course Conductor, to a tournament which has applied and paid a fee. This will be for the Saturday of the tournament only. This Supervisor will watch games the UIC designates. The Supervisor will then debrief and critique umpires, with the only goal being to make them better. The feedback will be geared to the level of the umpire. Please note that this is not a pathway to get into the Level 4 program. More details will be made available in the spring.
