Hamilton Baseball Legends Honoured
Submitted By John Hashimoto on Sunday, November 19, 2017
Two Hamilton "Builders" were honoured recently for their contributions to amateur baseball at the local, provincial and national levels.

Dennis "Skip" Ryan was inducted into the Baseball Ontario Hall of Fame for his tireless work in baseball.  Mr. Ryan always carried the "Hamilton" flag in his role as HDBA President, Baseball Ontario President & Board of Directors, Baseball Ontario Umpires Supervisor and Baseball Canada Umpires Committee member.  He was instrumental in creating the umpire development stages still in use today as well as consolidating baseball associations across the province.   Regardless how busy he was at the provincial and national levels, Dennis' unending loyalty to his local association always found him taking the time to work with Hamilton players, coaches and umpires.

Mike Campanella was awarded the Mary Whittaker Memorial Award for his tireless volunteer work at the grassroots level.   Whether it be as coach, umpire or administrator, Mike is a true role model for his peers.  A founding member of the Hamilton Cardinals (Rep) Baseball Association, Mike recognized the need to bring the best players in the Hamilton & District area together playing for one association.   As an honorary Life Member, Mike still plays an active role in developing rep baseball in Hamilton and the Hamilton Cardinals are ever so grateful for his support.

The Hamilton Cardinals Baseball Association thank both Dennis Ryan and Mike Campanella for their volunteerism and their endless support of baseball in Hamilton.
